Gynecologist on a Mission to Educate About Dangerous Lung Cancer Stat’s Amongst Women During Nat’l Lung Cancer Awareness Month
1 in 17 Women Will Develop Lung Cancer, Higher Than Men
CLEARWATER, FL – With November being Lung Cancer Awareness Month, local gynecologist Dr. Jennifer Hayes of the Visionary Centre for Women is on a mission to educate her patients about the disease’s signs and symptoms. It was upon reading the latest statistics from the Lung Cancer Alliance that 1 in 17 women will develop lung cancer in their lifetimes that made Dr. Hayes realize that she had to do something.
“Smoking is the primary cause of lung cancer, which also happens to be the leading cause of cancer death in women.” said Dr. Hayes. “These statistics are unnerving. In my practice, I get to meet and care for amazing women every day and I feel that it’s my duty to educate and offer help to those at risk about this disease’s terrible symptoms.”
Dr. Hayes plans to offer smoking cessation assistance to her patients who are considering quitting such as nicotine replacement products to help with cravings or prescription medications which can double the patient’s chances of quitting.
Dr. Hayes is a Board-Certified Gynecologist and a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, International Society of Cosmetogynecology and the American Academy of Anti-Aging. She has been practicing in Pinellas County since 1991.
